What Are Hanko Stamps?
A Hanko is a carved stamp that has your last name on it in kanji characters . The Hanko (also known as Inkan ) is much more than a simple stamp—it is a legally recognised signature used in many aspects of daily life.
  The History of Hanko Stamps
The use dates back to ancient China , where carved seals were used by emperors and officials to authorise documents. This practice spread to Japan around the eighth century, where it quickly became integrated into the cultural and administrative framework. Originally reserved for the ruling classes, they eventually became accessible to the general population. Today, Hanko stamps are used by almost every citizen and business in Japan.

What Are Hanko Stamps Used For?
While most Western countries rely on handwritten signatures, Japan uses Hanko stamps for a wide range of personal, legal and business transactions . Some of the most common uses include:

Official Documents These Japanese stamps are used to authorise contracts, legal agreements and government forms. Whether opening a bank account or signing a lease, a Hanko stamp is often required.
Business Transactions Companies in Japan use specially registered Hanko stamps known as Jitsuin for official corporate agreements, invoices and internal approvals.
Personal Use Individuals often have personal Hanko stamps, known as Mitome-in , used for everyday activities such as receiving packages or confirming attendance at meetings.
Ceremonial and Cultural Significance Hanko stamps also play a role in calligraphy, art and gift-giving. Artists use them to mark their work, adding authenticity and personal identity.

Check out this reel by the.hito.bito on Instagram to hear more about how crucial these stamps are in the day-to-day errands of Japanese citizens. She shares her frustration as after providing her fingerprints, bank book, name and address, her Hanko was still required.
  Materials and Craftsmanship
Traditional Hanko stamps are often made from wood, ivory or stone, while modern versions may be produced from plastic or metal. Each stamp is uniquely carved with the owner’s name or business identity in Kanji, Katakana or Roman characters, making them highly personalised items.
Are Hanko Stamps Still Relevant Today?
With the rise of digital signatures and online transactions, there has been some debate about the continued relevance of Hanko stamps in Japan. Some businesses and government departments have begun modernising their processes, but Hanko stamps continue to hold symbolic and practical importance.
In 2025, a Hanko stamp could be used for loyalty stamping for small businesses, branding packaging or craft projects such as card making. Finding new modern day uses is a great way of keeping the tradition alive whilst moving with the times.

Weare delighted to introduce our latest personalisation tool: the Custom Jesmonite Stamp ! You have been patient with us over the last couple of months but it is finally ready after extensive testing. Designed specifically for use with Jesmonite, this stamp allows artists to effortlessly imprint their brand name or logo into their work.
  What is Jesmonite?
Invented by the late Peter Hawkins in the early 1980s , Jesmonite is a material which introduces a wide range of opportunities, making it the perfect material for artists and creatives.
Loved for its eco-conscious , non-toxic and versatile properties, it’s widely used for homeware, jewellery, coasters, trays, sculptures and more. It is an eco-friendly safe alternative to resin, plaster and concrete, making it the ideal material to use at home
Market analysis indicate that the global Jesmonite market was valued at approximately USD 1.34 billion in 2022 , with projections suggesting growth to USD 1.47 billion in 2023 and further to USD 1.97 billion by 2025. The market is expected to continue expanding, potentially reaching USD 4.69 billion by 2034. Although these stats speak of billions, the UK Jesmonite market is growing at a steady rate, you need only look at craft stalls, Pinterest and Etsy to see many handmade artworks selling well on these platforms.

@ pontre.studio
  Our Jesmonite Stamps
We will hold our hands up and say we were not aware of the need for this stamp. We were approached by one of our customers and regular Instagram collaborator cosiness23_handmade who needed a solution to brand her work and we were only too happy to assist. She posted a reel testing out a prototype of the stamp and it reached over 1.7 million views! You can watch it here . The feedback from that reel alone identified the demand for Jesmonite artists looking for a way to leave their brand name or logo on all the pieces they create.
We tested our stamps using Jesmonite ac100 which is their most popular product.

We have 5 sizes available - 30mm round, 30mm square, 40x40mm, 50x10mm and 60x30mm.
For text only designs like your brand name it is strongly recommended you choose either the 50x10mm or 60x30mm option. You know your material best but we feel the smaller text sizes didn’t leave the best impression on the material after it set.
The stamp features a pure oak wood wedge to allow you to easily place and lift it out of the mix. The laser engraved grey rubber imprints into the Jesmonite leaving a perfect impression behind.

  Images by @ cosiness23_handmade
  Best Practices for Stamping
The size of the Jesmonite mould and the room temperature impact how quickly your mix will set, so how many minutes to wait before stamping can vary. From our testing, around the 10 minute mark was the right time to stamp. However one customer said 11-13 minutes was her preference.
If you would like to stamp in the middle of your plate, the outer areas of the Jesmonite should be firm but the middle still not quite set. When you are pushing the stamp in, you should feel the Jesmonite pushing back on you as the mix is almost firm, it shouldn't feel runny at all. Adding too soon when it is liquidy will give poorer results.
Trial and error until you get the hang of the right time to add the stamp is key! Moulds will be different sizes and different volumes of Jesmonite will be required so test out your stamp on a trial piece until you get comfortable, once you’ve nailed it you can then move onto stamping final pieces.

This stamp is a must-have addition to any Jesmonite starter kit. Please tag us in your posts on Instagram @ stampit.co.uk , we would love to see your customised stamps in action and reshare them on our profile! If you have any questions surrounding whether your design will work, please contact us via our friendly live chat. We look forward to seeing all your beautiful designs on your Jesmonite projects!

We’re happy to introduce the latest addition to our range - stamps for soap making ! Perfect for both hobbyists and professional soap makers, these stamps are designed to give your handmade soaps a personalised impression that sets them apart at local markets. The global sales of handmade soaps are gradually rising as consumers continue focusing on organic, environment friendly and paraben free products . Handmade soaps are often free from harsh chemicals, synthetic fragrances and preservatives, making them more attractive to health-conscious buyers. The EU market for natural cosmetics , including handmade soap, has been growing at an average rate of 7-9% annually.
Soap is the product that results from the chemical reaction that takes place between fat (for example plant oil) and a strong alkali like sodium hydroxide.

One of the key benefits of a traditional bar of soap is the cost efficiency compared with a bottle of shower gel not to mention the reduced plastics using soap than bottled shower gels. An interesting fact is the most expensive bar of soap in the world is manufactured in Lebanon and is made of pure gold dust and costs $2800 . That is quite a hefty cost but as soap making is on the rise we thought it best to give you some assistance when it comes to branding your handmade creations.
There are 3 different ways to make soap bars at home , cold processing, hot processing and the melt and pour method. Using a custom soap stamp is straightforward, but timing is key and many factors can affect the results.
For Cold Process Soap Making it’s best to use your handmade soap stamp when they are set but still slightly soft to the touch, generally 24 to 48 hours after pouring. This is the most traditional form of soap making. This method is easily customisable, allowing you to add aromatic and antibacterial herbs such as rosemary, sage, thyme and oregano .
The Melt and Pour Method involves using a pre-made soap base which is generally easy to work with when it comes to stamping because you have more control over the firmness. For these types of soaps, you should stamp once the soap has cooled and started to solidify but is still slightly warm and malleable. This is usually about 30 minutes to 1 hour after pouring, depending on the thickness of the soap and the room temperature. If the soap is too liquid, the stamp will not hold and if it's too hard, you won't be able to make a clear imprint, timing is really key using this method.
For Hot Process Soap Making try stamping after cutting. If the imprint doesn't have the desired effect, then wait a day and try again . Depending on how hard or soft your recipe is, you might have to do some trial and error to find out the right timing for your recipe.

  Tips for Successful Stamping
• Pre-test the firmness: Before stamping the entire batch, test the stamp on a small area or an end piece to make sure the soap has the right consistency.
• A light spray of isopropyl alcohol : This will help prevent soft soap from sticking to the stamp and ruining the sharpness of the design.
• Clean and dry your stamp: Ensure your soap stamp is clean and completely dry before using it. Any moisture can cause the soap to stick to the stamp or create a poor impression.
• Apply even pressure: When stamping, apply firm, even pressure to the stamp to ensure a clear, uniform impression. Hold the stamp in place for a few seconds and then gently remove it without shifting it sideways.
• Post-stamping care: After stamping, let the soap cure as recommended for the type of soap you are making. This usually involves letting it sit undisturbed in a cool, dry place.
Our new line of soap stamps are available in four convenient sizes, ensuring that you can find the perfect fit for any soap bar or shape. With a pure walnut handle and acrylic base, they are of the highest quality and made by hand by our production team. Ready to transform your soaps from simple to spectacular? Shop our selection of acrylic soap stamps and start creating beautifully branded soaps that your customers will love.

One of the key elements of effective branding is packaging—it’s not just about how you package your products, but how you present your brand from the moment a customer receives their order. We understand the critical role packaging plays and offer a versatile solution: custom packaging stamps. Around 74% of 18-25-year-olds would share an image of product packaging through social media. This can influence peers and increase brand exposure in the millennial and Gen Z market.
Paper over plastic is no longer just an eco-friendly decision, it is a style preference for consumers . About 69% of paper and cardboard gets recycled, so businesses can remain confident if they are using eco-friendly packaging they are doing their bit for the planet.
Innovative solutions we can expect to see more of in future are edible packaging and plant-based plastics . Companies like IKEA, Coca-Cola and Lush are currently doing this.

In our previous blog ‘Packaging Stamps & Why Your Business Needs One’ we discussed the benefits of branding stamps. If you would like to learn more about how they could be beneficial to your business have a read of that also.
We have chosen a few recommendations for you to consider below to help you on your way to personalised packaging that captures the essence of your brand.

This stamp is best for covering a large area of boxes or packaging due to its 115mm x 70mm size. So if you want your brand name boldly showcased, this self-inking stamp could be the one for you. For logos this is a popular choice due to its 40mm diameter. Use our online design tool to upload your image, add text and decide whether you would like a border. It’s perfect for adding to brown boxes before sending out customer’s orders or stamping takeaway boxes for cafes. This stamp is ideal for adding dietary requirements to packaging for the catering and food industry. Add 'vegan' 'gluten free' or 'dairy free' to packaging to prevent cross contamination and built trust with your customers that their order has been prepared with their allergies/intolerances in mind.
   OAK Stamp 50mm

If you would prefer to use a stamp pad for a more traditional stamping experience, we have a range of pure oak stamps that are handcrafted by our production team. They cut each piece of wood themselves and attach the handle before it is shipped to you. As you can see in the image above, henryscoffees use their stamp to brand their takeaway cups.
All our stamps are versatile, and you can add them to whatever you like. Other applications you may not have considered are tissue paper, thank you notes, gift tags and paper bags. With a wide selection of ink colours to choose from, it doesn’t just have to be black. Stand out from the crowd with a red, violet, blue or green impression!

In the art world, every detail matters to set your work apart. For artists and illustrators, the branding and packaging of artwork is sometimes overlooked with the piece itself being the main priority. At Stampit, we offer professional art stamps and embossers that are perfect for artists who want to finish their work with their name or logo in a special way. The United Kingdom is the leading European art market and one of the major hubs for the global art trade. In 2024, the Labour government identified the arts and creative industries as one of eight 'growth-driving' sectors . In this blog we’ll discuss how custom art stamps and bespoke embossing tools can be the finishing touch your work needs.
As a thank you to our art community we are offering 15% off orders over £40 with code: ARTIST
   Personalising Artwork with Stamps
Imagine every piece of artwork you create carrying a unique signature — not just your hand-signed name, but a beautifully designed stamp that reflects your personal brand. Our custom stamps are perfect for adding directly onto your canvas or paper. Whether it's a delicate, understated design in the corner of a painting or a bold statement on a graphic print, artist branding stamps can provide a signature that enhances authenticity and increases its value.

   Embossing: Adding a New Dimension
For those who seek to add a tactile element to their work, embossers offer an extraordinary way to elevate artwork. An embossed logo or signature on a high-quality paper print can transform the art into a multi-dimensional piece that invites touch as well as visual admiration. This method is especially popular among printmakers, photographers and illustrators who produce limited edition series and want each piece to be distinctly marked.

Claredavislondon is a London artist and hand embosses all her colourful prints that are available to buy at her website . She uses our 41mm ideal seal embosser to authenticate her work.
   Branding Packaging
Extending your branding beyond the artwork itself, stamps and embossers are ideal for personalising the packaging in which art is delivered. Stamping or embossing your logo on boxes, envelopes or wrapping paper not only looks professional but creates an unboxing experience that reflects the care and creativity of the artist. It's about making a memorable impression from the moment the package is received. We have a wide range of packaging stamps and logo stamps that you can explore if this is something you are considering.
Art and culture shape our world in countless ways . With museums, galleries and libraries producing £1billion and crafts £0.4billion per year, this sector is thriving more than ever. Stamps and personalised embossers for artists offer creatives an innovative way to add value and flair to their work. Whether you are looking to make your mark on your artwork or create a branded customer experience, our products are designed to help you impress with every impression.

  2. A Reliable Pottery Wheel

Ensure the wheel head is the right size for your pottery projects

  3. Kiln – The Heart of a Pottery Studio
Firing your work is what transforms raw clay into durable ceramics. A reliable kiln allows you to experiment with different firing temperatures, glazes and finishes . Energy efficiency is also a key consideration.

Choose a kiln size based on your production volume
Electric kilns are easy to use making them ideal for beginners and small studios
Gas and wood-fired kilns provide unique surface effects and offer a wider temperature rang e

  4. Essential Hand Tools
Having a collection of basic hand tools is crucial for shaping, trimming and detailing your pottery. Here are some key tools every potter should have:

Needle tools for scoring and fine detail work
Sponge and brushes for adding slip, glaze and texture

  5. Packaging Stamps For Pottery
Once your ceramics are ready to sell, how you package them matters. A custom packaging stamp is an affordable and sustainable way to brand your boxes, bags and wrapping paper. A personalised stamped box is much more aesthetically pleasing for your customers than basic brown packaging.

  6. Glazing and Decorating Tools
Glazing is what gives pottery its final look. It is an impenetrable layer applied to bisque -ware that is used to decorate and waterproof an item. Ensure your clay and glaze are compatible to prevent crazing, bubbling or even cracking . Invest in quality glazing tools such as:

At Stampit, we believe that small changes can make a big impact. As a company that provides personalised stamps , we understand the importance of sustainability. That’s why we have taken conscious steps towards eco-friendly packaging to reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to a greener planet. We thought we would give you a rundown on how we are doing to our bit for the planet.
  Our Commitment to Sustainable Packaging
In the e-commerce industry, packaging waste is a growing concern. There’s been a huge focus on sustainability and cost reductions across the industry as it generates millions of tonnes of waste and 8 times more than offline purchasing. From excessive plastic wrapping to non-recyclable materials, the environmental impact of packaging is significant .
On a positive note , Amazon made the switch to fully recyclable packaging in Europe back in 2023, as the biggest fish in the pond this move has saved 1 billion single-use plastic delivery bags. From our humble beginnings, we have always tried to adopted a minimal-waste, plastic-free packaging approach, ensuring that our packaging materials align with our sustainability goals.

Here’s how we are making a difference:
  1. 100% Recyclable Brown Paper Boxes
Unlike many companies that use plastic, bubble wrap padded envelopes or coated packaging, we only use brown paper boxes that are 100% recyclable and biodegradable. No bubble wrap for us either, to ensure our stamps make their way to you safely we secure them with honeycomb paper wrap. These sustainable packaging solutions protect your custom stamps while ensuring that no unnecessary waste ends up in landfills.

  2. No Sellotape – Just Brown Paper Tape
Traditional plastic-based Sellotape contributes to plastic pollution and is not always recyclable. Instead, we have made the switch to brown paper tape, which is fully recyclable. This small change ensures that our eco-friendly packaging supplies remain entirely plastic-free. We think this tape, coupled with our logo stamped on the box highlights what is important to us.

  3. Zero Excess Packaging
We avoid unnecessary fillers, plastic wrapping, or excessive materials in our parcels, that’s why we use honeycomb paper in our packaging. Our goal is to ensure that your order arrives safely without contributing to excess waste, supporting a sustainable business model.

  4. Encouraging Reusability & Recycling
We encourage our customers to reuse and recycle packaging wherever possible. Whether they’ve found another use for it in their home or are putting it in their recycling bin, it all makes a difference!

  5) Made & Shipped from the UK – Reducing Carbon Footprint
All of our oak stamps are proudly made and shipped from the UK. Unlike many suppliers who import from overseas, our local production ensures minimal transportation emissions and no unnecessary pollution from long-haul shipping. This means you know exactly where your stamps come from, supporting British manufacturing while reducing environmental impact.
The main brand we stock for our self-inking stamps, ink pads and embossers are Trodat who have a climate-compensated core range which has been awarded the Blue Angel and the Austrian Eco-Label . Both of these awards are internationally recognised environmental seals of quality , awarded to products that have been thoroughly tested to guarantee they meet the highest ecological standards. In addition, Trodat offset unavoidable green house gases through climate protection projects which you can read about here .

  Why Eco-Friendly Packaging Matters
Sustainable packaging practices help reduce waste, lower carbon emissions, and decrease reliance on non-renewable materials. By choosing Stampit you are supporting a business that prioritises green packaging solutions and works towards a cleaner, greener future.

Join Us in Making a Difference
We invite our customers to be a part of this eco-friendly movement. Every order placed with Stampit contributes to reducing packaging waste and promoting sustainable business practices.
Thank you for choosing a greener way to shop!

Are you planning a 2025 wedding? Every detail matters, from the save the dates, invitations to the final thankyou notes. At Stampit.co.uk, we offer a range of custom wedding stamps, wax seals and embossers to add some finishing touches to your big day. Whether you’re sending out save- the- dates or embossing envelopes with your own customised design, personalised wedding stationery is a simple yet impactful way to establish a wedding aesthetic and make your wedding personal to you.
So, what are some of the wedding trends for 2025? Online wedding planning platform Hitched found that searches for ‘micro weddings’ are up 22% this year, which backs up Pinterest’s findings that searches for dinner party wedding aesthetics and garden party weddings are on the rise. British Vogue also found that traditional elements are making a return such as old-fashioned cakes and calligraphed invitations.
Weddings in 2025 are all about personalisation, creating a day that feels like a reflection of you and your partner’s personalities and we can help with that!
    1) Personalised Save the Date Stamps

Why custom wedding stamps make a difference - your wedding journey begins with the save the date cards, so why not make them truly unique? A custom save-the-date stamp allows you to create a design that showcases the name of you and your partner along with the date you will be married.
You can choose between a self-inking stamp like the one in the image which will give you a perfect impression every time. This may be the better option if you have a high number of invitations to stamp due to it’s quick and easy impression that takes just a couple of seconds.
The other option is to use a traditional rubber stamp for a more rustic look. Browse our range of rubber stamps if you prefer the personal feel that comes with this more crafty style of stamping.
Ideas for Save the Date Stamps:

Monogrammed stamps with the couple’s initials & wedding date.
Romantic floral or botanical designs to match your wedding theme.
Minimalist calligraphy or elegant script fonts.

    2) Wax-sealed envelopes

How elegant do these wax sealed envelopes look? You can imagine how impressed your wedding guests would be when this drops through their door. The excitement they would feel as they notice the wax sealed wedding invitation amongst their usual pile of utility bills. A wax seal is perfect if you are looking for the ‘wow factor’. Choose a design such as a dove or love heart in keeping with the wedding theme or opt for your newlywed initials.

   3) Embossers

Nothing says luxury like embossed wedding invitations . Our custom wedding embossers can add a sophisticated, raised texture to your invites, making them look and feel high-end. Embossing not only enhances the visual appeal but also adds a tactile element that stands out.
Ways to Use Embossing for Your Wedding:

Emboss your wedding monogram onto invitations or the envelope flaps.
Create embossed place cards for a stylish table setting.
Emboss napkins for a chic look.

   4) Thank you cards

Sending out thank-you cards after your wedding is a heartfelt way to show appreciation to your guests for celebrating your special day.
Including a personalised wedding stamp on the back of an envelope leaves a final impression your guests will love. Phrases or designs you could use are Just Married, Mr & Mrs … or a simple thank you. This is the last keepsake your guests will have from your wedding, so closing the envelope with a final personalised stamp will bring this special event to a close.

Your wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and every detail should reflect your personality and style. Personalised wedding stamps, embossers and wax seals provide an easy yet elegant way to add bespoke touches to your special day. Whatever type of wedding you’re having, Stampit.co.uk has the perfect products to bring your vision to life. We hope we have inspired you on how to personalise wedding invitations with custom stamps. Start designing your custom wedding stamps today and make every detail unforgettable!

Cosiness23 (Cosiness23_handmade) on Instagram is a neutral handmade décor brand created by Katie based in Cambridgeshire. She makes all the items herself and loves creating new ideas. Her favourite part is seeing all her handmade creations take pride of place in customer’s homes. With almost 8,000 orders on Etsy, and 14,000 Instagram followers, her business is going from strength to strength.
If you like minimalism then you will love her beautiful candle stick holders, trays and coasters.

Stampit first heard of Cosiness23 when they placed an order for customised stamps to help brand her packaging. As a small business, printed packaging can be a costly outlay, not to mention the storage of the minimal order quantities. Cosiness23 opted for our OAK5 traditional rubber stamp, made from wood and separate pad for stamping. This stamp leaves a 50mm x 50mm impression on your chosen material and is available here . Each rubber stamp Cosiness23 uses has a different impression, one displays her social usernames and another proudly stamps her logo.
Cosiness23 said “ The stamps always have a beautiful imprint and amazing quality handle which makes them last so much longer. They are really affordable way of branding, making your packaging look more put together .”

Recently Cosiness23 opted for our medium packaging stamp, a self-inking stamp (all this means is that the ink pad is built into the stamp). This stamp is made from recycled plastics and is ergonomically designed to allow for an even distribution of ink. Meaning the stamp does the work for you and every impression left behind should be the same, time after time.
You can view her reel unboxing the order here . This is Stampit’s 5211 Trodat self-inking stamp. Cosiness23 mentions in her reel how easy the stamp is to use and how she loves how quickly she could get her boxes stamped, allowing her to focus on working on her next product launch . . When running a busy small business, it’s all about efficiency!

If you think a self-inking stamp is the right choice for your business you can view the range here .
We are currently working with Cosiness23 on a new product allowing impressions on Jesmonite. We cannot take the credit on this new product though as it was Cosiness23 that let us know of an issue she was having in her production process . We were only too happy to come up with a solution and to help her out along with others in the industry! Keep an eye on our socials for when this product is launched and we will update this blog with link when it goes live.
Speaking about the new product Cosiness23 said “ Stampit have created a new design which I have been testing, adding a small light weight handle to use on Jesmonite items. Having a light weight handle means the stamp doesn’t sink and can be easily moved if not centred right. I place the stamp on straight after pouring and take it off after 15 minutes to stop the item sweating onto the stamp. The team at Stampit are so lovely and always there to help with any request you have ”

Browse Katie’s Etsy shop to see her beautiful décor for yourself.
We always work with our customers to make sure we are recommending the best product to suit them and their business. We are always happy to answer any questions on Instagram @stampit.co.uk or use our live chat on our website . It’s all about small businesses supporting each other. Collaborations like this are great for both brands to gain exposure and create new content for social media.

We've witnessed some stunning creations made with our maker’s mark stamps, and it inspired us to write a blog that showcases these designs to spark your creativity. If you're considering purchasing one for yourself, this might just be the nudge you need. Previously, we published a blog in March titled "4 Reasons Why Potters Need a Clay Stamp" where we explored the benefits of pottery stamps and other important information. For our latest post, we’ll concentrate on the diverse designs you can achieve with these stamps and discuss the various visual elements.

  1) Very small design such as initials
This is perfect if you want a simplistic look and don’t want to overwhelm your work with a large impression. It is delicate and minimal, it’s all about personal taste and what you are trying to achieve in using a potter stamp.
@annasmythceramics

  2) Round design with border
Round designs are popular particularly because many logos adopt a circular shape.
  @beckfootpottery

The round design naturally complements the contours of circular pottery pieces like bowls and vases, enhancing the overall look and feel of the pieces. It is one of our customer favourites and can we see why!
  https://www.stampit.co.uk/curved-text-logo-clay-stamp-30mm

  3) Square
Square designs are likely the most striking option, making them the perfect choice if you're seeking a shape that really captures attention. The sharp lines of a square will ensure that your brand name prominently stands out on the base of your work.

  https://www.stampit.co.uk/clay-potter-stamp-50mm

  4) Your own custom shape
We tailor-make your stamp to perfectly match the image you upload, allowing you to choose any shape you desire. In the customer image below @antkellycreations chose a hexagon. This flexibility ensures that the final product truly reflects your personal style and branding needs.

  5) Just an image
Many brands have a distinctive animal or object that is linked to their brand and they prefer using this rather than text. We love this highland cow stamp we made for @wonky_potter_er.
It perfectly embodies her brand with its image-only design, offering a visually striking appeal.

  https://www.stampit.co.uk/handmade-pottery-mark-stamp-20-mm

Marketing91 describes the main aim of branding is to ‘ establish a noteworthy and distinguished presence in the market and the industry as a whole creating awareness about the company and its offerings’. Consistent brand presentation has been seen to increase revenue by 33% so its value should not be underestimated.
As you can see there are endless possibilities for personalising and enhancing your ceramic creations. Whether you opt for minimalism or a bold shape, each type brings its own unique advantages. Choosing the right stamp design can significantly elevate the aesthetic and branding of your pottery. We hope we have helped you in understanding which style is right for you. Many businesses choose to stamp their packaging for brand recognition after they have bought in their boxes, paper bags and envelopes. Packaging stamps are a popular product of ours, they transform a simple, uninteresting box into a branded package ready to be posted to the customer. It’s the final stage in a business’s process before posting orders and they want a stamp that stands out and makes their brand look professional. That’s where we come in!
Choose between using a stamp pad (which requires you to ink the stamp yourself) like the stamp in the image below. Or you can choose a self-inking packaging stamp which many favour for its efficiency and speed. Keep reading for the benefits of personalised packaging stamps, view some of our customer’s designs and for our product recommendations.

  What are the Key Benefits?

Quite simply – it looks good . Having a stamp with writing and/or an image is much more visually appealing than just a plain box.

Brand recognition - One thing you would want your business to have is brand recognition. What this means is anyone who sees your products from a distance knows it is you . Packaging is a powerful tool for a brand to connect with its target audience and convey its identity .

Cost - savings and no minimum order quantity –Most printed packaging suppliers have a high MOQ which is not affordable or possible for new businesses.

Small business feel - Customers notice the little details especially when they can see someone has taken the time to stamp it and it is not just printed on. Ordering from a small business usually offers a more personal experience with items such as handwritten thank you cards which go a long way in retaining customers .

Better customer experience - Customers will be more satisfied with their order and more likely to share their experience online or via word of mouth, increasing your reach and driving more sales.

Cheaper and more eco-friendly than buying in your packaging pre-printed - All of our packaging is paper based and is fully recyclable.

  Customer Images

In this reel on our Instagram, @_clayandcanvas showed the process of her stamping her boxes, adding her pottery and finishing touches. You can see how clear the impression turns out and the difference it has made in transforming the box.

The @wonky_potter_er also demonstrated her new stamp in action during a product unboxing. We love how unique this design is with the highland cow, you have the freedom to upload your logo and make it look however you like!
Do you want to invest in one of your own? Here are our favourites along with why we love them to help you decide.

5212 - Trodat Large Packaging Stamp
  https://www.stampit.co.uk/5212-trodat-large-packaging--stamp-impressions-115mm-x-70mm

This is a large model which has been used in the previous 2 images. With up to 16 lines to personalise and the option to add your logo, it is the product we recommend for large designs.

The dimensions are 115mm x 70mm so it is ideal for cardboard boxes as it takes up the majority of the space on small to medium size boxes.

The 5212 is from our ‘Professional’ range which is our highest quality and most expensive product line due to the smooth stamping experience and stainless steel frame. It’s built to last, stamping 100’s of boxes a week is no problem for the 5212!

With the ink pad built in, many busy business owners love this model due to how easy it is to use.

   The Boss XXL Stamp
  https://www.stampit.co.uk/the-boss-xxl-stamp-290mm-x-210mm

This stamp requires being held with two hands and pressed into the stamp pad to be inked.

It offers a generous 290mm x 210mm size, which makes it ideal for branding boxes and paper bags.

Choose between a traditional oak stamp mount which can be seen in the image or opt for an acrylic mount. The transparent acrylic mount allows you to see clearly where you are stamping, ensuring precise stamping experience.

Many businesses prefer the more rustic looking impression that this stamp offers.

We have explained a quick overview of custom packaging stamps and hope this information has been useful in deciding whether to implement one into your packaging process. Many people are unaware of what exactly they can use their new embossing stamp for. Embossing is a fascinating technique used in various crafts and industrial applications to create raised designs on different surfaces . Whether you're a hobbyist, a professional designer, or someone curious about the process, understanding what materials can be embossed and how this is done can greatly expand your creative possibilities. Here, we'll delve into the world of embossing, discovering the possibilities it provides you and your business as well as giving a practical guide on how to achieve beautiful results.
  What Can You Emboss?
Embossing can be applied to a variety of materials, each offering unique results. Commonly embossed materials include:
  1) Card : Including greeting cards, invitations, customer notes and bags. Look how @Lucypurple uses our rectangular embosser below and view her website here .
Lucy has used her embossers on 3 different surfaces. On the front of her white bag, the customer note and the ring box. This one embossed image has gone a long way in enhancing her product packaging and brand. This goes to show just how versatile these little tools can be!

  2) Books : Personalising book covers or even the pages inside with an ex libre image and text is a beloved hobby among book lovers. Why not emboss your latest read with your personalised design before you add it to your library. It also means if you loan your book to a friend you are likely to get it back. There is a sense of satisfaction and achievement that comes with it as you are claiming ownership of your book Also, if you do choose to lend the book to anyone they will be impressed by this personalised touch.
  3) Napkins: Add your logo to your napkins for that little bit extra in your café. As your customers pick up their cutlery they will notice the extra time that has been taken to add a customised embossed stamp to each napkin. This is one of the lesser known uses of embossers but it will definitely set you apart from the rest. Customers will enjoy running their finger across the indentation and the tactile effect it leaves behind.
  4) Paper bags : This could be paper bags used in cafes for orders to-go or used when packing customer’s purchases in your shop.
This is an eco-friendly alternative to plastic bags, so if being kind to the environment is important to you or your brand, embossed paper bags could be more fitting. It offers a more authentic feel than standard plastic bags you often associate with supermarkets and adds added value to your brand. You only need to refer back to Lucy’s paper bag above to see the element of difference that added details can add.
    .
  5) Embossing wafers: Many people are unaware of these striking round stickers that allow you to emboss your design and stick them to whatever you like. They are commonly used in crafting and décor projects, or even added to wedding envelopes to show the importance of what is inside
Our range has many colours to choose from and they have a holographic effect. They are very eye-catching and perfect for gift bags, packages, cards and much more!

Other: Customers often surprise us embossing new items we had not considered. Feel free to get creative and test out new materials that will work for you and your business. Be sure to leave a comment and let us know if there is anything we have missed that you like to emboss. We love seeing new ways to emboss that we had not considered.

In today's competitive market, businesses are constantly seeking innovative ways to stand out and make a lasting impression. One such method that has stood the test of time is the use of rubber stamps for packaging. While branded packaging can be visually appealing, it often comes with a hefty price tag. In contrast, rubber stamps offer a versatile, customisable, and cost-effective solution for your packaging without breaking the bank.
The Rich History of Rubber Stamps
Rubber stamps have a long and fascinating history, dating back to the mid-19th century. Initially used for marking and labelling in industrial settings, these stamps quickly gained popularity for their practicality and ease of use. Over time, their applications expanded to include personal and commercial uses, from crafting to business branding. Today, rubber stamps continue to be a beloved tool for many, thanks to their simplicity and effectiveness.
The Benefits of Rubber Stamps for Packaging
Cost-Effectiveness: One of the most significant advantages of using rubber stamps for packaging is the cost savings. Branded packaging, especially custom-printed boxes and bags, can be expensive, particularly for small businesses or start-ups. Rubber stamps, on the other hand, offer a one-time investment that can be used repeatedly on various packaging materials, dramatically reducing costs.
Customisation: Rubber stamps provide unparalleled flexibility in design. Whether you want to feature your logo, company name, or a unique design, stamps can be easily customised to match your brand identity. This level of personalisation allows you to create a cohesive and professional look across all your packaging.
Versatility: Rubber stamps can be used on a wide range of packaging materials, including paper, cardboard, fabric, and even wood. This versatility makes them an excellent choice for businesses that use diverse packaging types. Additionally, stamps can be used to create different looks and styles, from rustic and handmade to sleek and modern.
Eco-Friendliness: In an era where sustainability is more important than ever, rubber stamps offer an eco-friendly alternative to traditional packaging. By using stamps, businesses can reduce their reliance on printed materials and minimise waste.
Ease of Use: Rubber stamps are incredibly user-friendly. With just a simple press, you can transform plain packaging into something unique and eye-catching. This ease of use also makes it possible for businesses to involve employees in the packaging process, fostering a sense of teamwork and creativity.
Personalised: Incorporating rubber stamps into your packaging strategy not only saves money but also adds a personal touch to your products. Customers appreciate the effort and thought that goes into hand-stamped packaging, often perceiving it as more authentic and charming than mass-produced branded packaging. This addition can help build a stronger connection with your audience, enhancing brand loyalty and customer satisfaction. While branded packaging has its merits, the benefits of rubber stamps are hard to ignore. From cost savings and customisation to versatility and eco-friendliness, rubber stamps offer a practical and stylish alternative that can improve your packaging without the associated expenses. Purchase a rubber stamp and discover how this simple yet powerful tool can transform your business's packaging strategy.
Investing in rubber stamps is not just a smart financial decision; it's a step towards more sustainable and creative packaging solutions. So why not give it a try?

Loyalty schemes work by offering customers incentives to continue purchasing from a business. The aim is to keep customers and show customer appreciation. I’m sure you can think of one local business you shop in that uses a loyalty card stamp. Perhaps you are considering introducing this to your business, or still need some convincing. This blog will outline some key facts about loyalty programmes including customer buying habits and then explain why this would be beneficial to your business. We will then give our product recommendations available here at Stampit to get you started on your loyalty card stamping journey.
About 82% of businesses agree that retaining customers is actually much cheaper than acquiring new ones . This is because acquiring new customers can cost a business up to 5 times more than retaining existing ones. Some businesses are unaware of this and focus on constantly driving new customers instead of nurturing their current customer base. New customers or followers don’t always equate to more revenue. Industries loyalty stamps are popular in are hairdressing, car washing, hospitality, beauty and dog grooming.
Loyalty programmes are a must-have for improving customer retention, increasing brand loyalty, and driving growth in your business.
So, you are probably wondering what are the benefits? You don’t want to be giving away free coffees for nothing! One benefit is customers are more likely to mention your business to family and friends if they are regularly attending for their next stamp. They will become brand advocates and may end up asking friends to meet there or stop in on a walk with them.
Not all business have a loyalty scheme meaning it will set you apart from other similar businesses in the area/street . For example, if a customer likes the coffee from two coffee shops in their town but one offers a free coffee after buying 10, it’s likely they will choose to shop in the one with a reward coffee. The general public love a freebie, with Starbucks, Costa and McDonalds all offering a loyalty scheme, not having a system of your own could drive business elsewhere.
Another benefit is the low cost to implement this. You don’t have to increase your online marketing budget to attract new customers, just purchase your stamp and loyalty cards and you’re good to go! Once it is set up there is no ongoing work necessary, all you have to do it stay stocked up on cards and ink pads.
With customers visiting more often, they will become familiar with staff members and may even build up a rapport, strengthening the customer relationship. This could prevent them going elsewhere in future as they feel connected to your business.
Finally, customers are 50% more likely to try a new product of yours. Due to building up trust, customers will feel more comfortable buying new introductions to the menu or a new service you offer. This could ease the pressure and nerves of a new launch as you know you have a strong supportive customer base compared to a business who does not have a customer loyalty strategy.
Here at Stampit, we have customisable options where you can create a unique design or upload an image of your choice. Get creative, they don’t have to be your standard designs, we have seen baguettes, burgers and pizza slices before. The more memorable the buying experience is for your customer the more likely they are to return. We also have stock stamps which are available to order with our most popular designs including a coffee bean, cupcake and even a paw print!
Below are two customer images shared via reviews showing their loyalty card stamps in action. From haircuts to slushy’s, they’re versatile and designed to your industry.

                  What is embossing?
Embossing is a popular process where material, usually paper is pressed between two die plates creating either a raised image (embossed) or a sunken image (debossed). This technique adds depth and dimension to your project . Popular with crafters, small business owners and even wedding planners, embossing helps these industries add value and extra detail for their customers. For wedding planners it assists in adding personal touches to their client’s special day. Design Print Digital states that ‘The early form of embossed printing dates back to the 15th century’. Beginning with hot stamping plates being introduced into printing processes to create customised stationery. However embossing as we know it today didn’t start until the early 19th century when printing services became more affordable.
Lawyers and courts have also used embossing stamps to authenticate legal documents for years, giving the official seal of approval. This practice, like that of notaries, can be traced back to ancient and medieval times.
The industry has developed significantly since then and you will find embossed images or text on card, napkins, tissue paper and so much more! Sectors that have really adopted the art of embossing are retail, hospitality and packaging.
But why do customers like this finishing touch? The feel is a big part of it, you can’t get it from printing alone - “ Texture is so important. Embossed surfaces are nice to look at, it's tactile and it's a great empty space filler! ” - Olga Direktorenko on Youtube.
This blog will give an overview of the types of embossing that exist, top tips on how to get the best results, why you should consider an embossing stamp for your business and finally our top recommendations.
  Types of embossing
Embossing is a broad term and there are a few different types and uses.
An embossing stamp is operated by hand and involves a clamping mechanism to create the impression. This type of embossing has been popular in industries that require authentication of official documents. These documents could include: contracts, certificates, and legal paperwork due to the difficulty in forging. They are also used by small business owners like cafes, clothing brands, crafters and many different types of projects as we highlighted above.
Following the train of embossing for crafters you can purchase embossing powders to use with embossing heat guns . This method is popular in card making and scrapbooking and it will give you a raised image without the need of a physical stamp. Crafters are also drawn to embossing machines that use embossing folders to raise the image/artwork – yet another way you can get crafty!
How does an embossing stamp work?
So, how does the stamp actually work?
The device has two die plates, one with an embossed image and one with a debossed image.
When you apply pressure, the die plates come together, forming a raised design. These stamps are versatile for whatever you choose to use them on. It’s a simple and easy to use stamp that anyone can start using in their business.
  Tips
Embossing can take some practice to perfect, as the machine is handheld it is up to you as the ‘presser’ to push down to achieve the right pressure. Experiment on different types of paper or materials. Remember different embossers can print on different weights of paper. Make sure you pick the right one that suits your material.
Yes we recommend using your embosser on card, invitations, envelopes or thank you notes, however there are countless opportunities to create that embossed look! Think napkins, tissue paper, even toilet roll.
Some materials emboss better than others. Thick card and certain metallic foils work well. Thinner paper under 80gsm might tear so being extra careful is recommended.
You are in control so make sure to apply consistent pressure to ensure that the entire design is evenly embossed.
What can an embosser do for me or my brand?
As each piece of card is embossed by hand, anyone who receives it will be able to feel the indentation in the paper and see someone has taken the time, energy and effort to add this finishing touch. Customers love these extra little details.
Why stop with card, embossing on napkins is perfect for cafes or restaurants. Using embossed napkins can differentiate your business from its competitors, especially a market as big as the hotel and catering industry. It shows attention to detail and can suggest a higher level of quality which could attract new customers. These subtle forms of marketing can enhance your digital presence as many people post pictures on their social media of their food or table when dining so it is great exposure.
Embossing can also work well on food paper packaging that may be used to wrap up sandwiches or baked goods. So even if your business does not have the option to sit in, your customers will enjoy the embossed design as they unwrap and enjoy their food elsewhere.
Finally, paper packaging for your clothing, jewellery, homeware or any other type of business that involves packing orders is another way you can use your embosser. Simply wrap up the goods in the paper and add your embossed seal. Make sure to position it at the front so it is takes pride of place when unwrapped.
Overall using an embosser on packaging or even napkins can be part of a marketing plan to enhance brand image, customer experience, and brand awareness.

Why should I be stamping on clay?
Historically pottery marks have been used to stamp the manufacturer, origin, production dates and many other details of the ceramics. Factory names and trademarks were also common markings .
The industry has moved along significantly since this and many small business potters want to proudly mark their work as one of the final steps in their creative process. There are many ways in which you can mark your work such as printed, incised, painted, or impressed directly into the artwork.
There are 7 stages of clay from dry clay to glaze ware . It’s up to you which stage you prefer to stamp. Some people prefer to wait until the clay is l eather hard as if it is too wet the stamp will stick to the clay, if it is too firm there may be cracking.
In this blog, we'll dive into the wonderful world of stamps for clay and explain what they can do for you and your business.
  Personalisation
• In the competitive pottery industry, standing out with your own signature style is key. Clay stamps offer an opportunity for personalisation, allowing artists to imprint their signature or logo.
• Seeing this displayed creates a feeling of pride for ceramic artists, this not only brands their work but also adds a personal touch that customers love. You won’t get this from mass-produced high street products!
  Create Every Detail
• You are in charge of how your pottery stamp /makers mark will look. Having your unique logo that matches your style on a stamp will strengthen your branding and give your work a more professional look.
• Think of your logo as an extension of your brand. Not only will it be stamped into your physical product, as you share your work on social media this ‘stamp’ will be instantly recognisable.
Add Texture and Depth into your design
• Texture plays a crucial role in pottery, adding depth and interest to each piece. Clay stamps for pottery give your work a tactile quality that invites touch. This tactile appeal enhances the sensory experience.
• Stamps can introduce a variety of textures that may be difficult to replicate by hand giving you the opportunity to have a more complex design. Yes our stamps proudly display logos or key phrases but our stamps can be as diverse as your product offering. We will engrave exactly what you want on the stamp so if you want swirls, waves, even stipple effects, simply upload the image or design it online using our custom stamp designer.
  Efficiency Meets Creativity
• Clay stamps streamline the decorative process. Instead of painstakingly etching details by hand, you can press your chosen stamp into the clay, achieving flawless results every time. Efficiency is key when working on large orders or intricate pieces allowing you to increase your output and spend your time on other projects.
• Some potters prefer to have a few different variations and will switch up their stamp depending on the piece or what look they are going for. A customised clay stamp allows you to do that at very little cost.
  Our Top Recommendations
Pick between a wooden block or walnut handle and your good to go.
We offer shallow (1-2mm) and deep (3-4mm) engraving for you to choose from depending on your desired look. Here are some of our best sellers to help with your stampoingstamping journey:
• Handmade Pottery Mark Stamp | 20mm

• Curved Text & Logo Clay Stamp - 30mm

   Clay Potter Stamp - 40mm

So whether you are a ceramist or a potter the material you work with is paramount to your product offering. When it leaves your studio space, it deserves to be marked as your unique creation.
It is more than your maker mark/logo or image but also a dependable means by which the manufacturers, origins, production dates and so many details of the ceramics may be identified. Make your mark in your creation with the help of a clay stamper.

Christmas is a time for giving but as a result of this it is unfortunately also a time for excessive environmental waste. From wrapping paper to Christmas cards, there are many ways that the festive season can have a negative impact on the planet. One way to reduce your environmental impact this Christmas is to use ink stamps. Stamps are a sustainable and reusable alternative to many traditional festive decorations and supplies. Add a personal touch to your gifts with festive designs, messages or your own artwork in stamp form. Check out our reel on Instagram , creating some ‘Santa approved’ gift wrap.

   Make your own Christmas cards

Use Christmas-themed stamps like snowflakes, reindeer or Santa to add a festive touch. You can find these stamps here .

   Personalise your Gift Tags
Create personalised gift tags by stamping your loved ones' names or heartfelt messages. Not only does it show you care but it also reduces the need for disposable tags. Shop our range of custom Christmas stamps here .

   Say no to Disposable Decorations
Instead of buying disposable holiday decorations, make your own! Stamp festive designs on fabric bunting, reusable banners or even cloth napkins. Then these items will last for years and reduce the demand for single-use decor.

                <![CDATA[
Wax seals have a long and interesting history, dating back thousands of years. They were first used in ancient civilisations, such as Mesopotamia and Egypt , to seal important documents and messages. However, it was during the Middle Ages that wax seal stamps usage grew. During this time, they were used by nobles, clergymen and rulers as a mark of authority and authenticity, often used to seal royal charters, treaties and other personal documents like love letters.

Wax seals served several important purposes. Firstly, wax seal stamps helped to keep documents private. The wax would form a tight seal around the document, making it impossible for anyone to open it without breaking the seal. Secondly, they helped to ensure the authenticity of a document or letter. If the seal was broken, it was clear that the document had been tampered with. Lastly but arguably the most important, wax seals added a touch of elegance and sophistication to important correspondence.

In the 19th century, the use of wax seal stamps began to decline. This was due to a number of factors, including the invention of the postage stamp and the gummed envelope . Postage stamps made it easier and cheaper to send letters and gummed envelopes made it easier to seal letters without having to use wax. Despite the decline in their popularity, wax seals are still used today. Often used for craft projects; sealing wedding invitations and other special occasion paperwork.

How to use a Wax Seal
Using a wax seal is a relatively simple process. You will need wax beads, a wax seal melter and of course a wax seal stamp .

Place a few wax beads in the wax seal melter.
Heat the wax seal melter until all the wax is melted.
Dip the wax seal stamp into the melted wax.
Press the wax seal stamp onto the letter or gift that you want to seal.
Allow the wax seal to cool and harden before handling.

Tips for a Good Wax Seal Impression

Use a high-quality wax seal stamp , a good wax seal stamp will produce a clear and sharp impression.
Use the right type of wax. There are different types of wax available, such as beeswax, paraffin wax and sealing wax.
Make sure that the wax is melted to the correct temperature. If the wax is too hot, it will be runny and difficult to control. If the wax is too cold, it will be stiff and difficult to work with.
Press the wax seal stamp firmly onto the document or letter, this will ensure that the impression is clear and sharp.
Allow the wax seal to cool and harden completely before handling the document or letter.

How to use a wax seal

Seal a letter: fold the letter in half and press the wax seal onto the flap of the envelope. The wax seal should be centred on the flap and should cover the seam of the envelope.
Seal a package: place the package on a flat surface and press the wax seal onto the top of the package. The wax seal should be centred on the top of the package and should be large enough to cover the opening of the package.
Seal a gift: tie the gift with a ribbon and press the wax seal onto the ribbon or cord. The wax seal should be centred on the ribbon and should be large enough to cover the knot.

Whether you are using a wax seal to seal a wedding invitation or simply to add a touch of elegance to a personal letter, a wax seal is sure to make a lasting impression. Shop our range of wax seals here .

Plastic packaging has undeniably dominated the market for years, offering convenience and versatility. However, beneath its shiny surface lies a dark side that threatens the environment. From clogging up landfills to polluting our oceans, plastic wreaks havoc on our planet. In recent years businesses have moved away from plastic towards more sustainable alternatives like cardboard.

  Why Switch to Cardboard Packaging?
As concerns about the environment increase, more and more people are recognising the detrimental impact of plastic packaging on our planet. So why make the switch?

One of the biggest arguments for cardboard over plastic is the biodegradability of the product. Cardboard is derived from renewable resources like wood pulp , making it easier to naturally degrade whereas plastic takes hundreds of years to break down and after this, still leaves many microplastics in its place.

Cardboard is also a more cost effective alternative to plastic packaging. As cardboard can be bought in bulk, a discount can be applied for the larger volume of materials bought. Costs can also be cut on storage as cardboard arrives flat packed, therefore it can be easily stored as to not take up a large amount of space.

Cardboard packaging emits a significantly lower carbon footprint that plastic due to its lighter weight. As carboard is a lighter material, transmission emissions are drastically reduced.

In recent years, consumers have become aware of the impact of plastic packaging on wildlife . Marine animals and birds often mistake plastic for food, which can be fatal. Whereas cardboard, poses less risk as it naturally biodegrades and does not contain harmful microplastics.

Therefore in the search for more sustainable packaging, cardboard is a clear winner, boasting many environmental advantages; biodegradability, low carbon footprint and safeguarding wildlife.

  Helps communicate to customers
Packaging means more to consumers today as it is not just a protective material to encase your product, but in fact a means to communicate your brand.

Sustainable packaging is particularly important to consumers that are lucky enough to fall into the Gen Z age bracket. When purchasing products Gen Z consumers tend to focus on corporate responsibility, specifically sustainability. It’ll come to no surprise that Gen Z purposely avoid purchasing from brands that don’t have the planet at their best interests.

Making the change from plastic to cardboard packaging offers a host of benefits for both the business and their customers. Personalise your new cardboard packaging (e.g. takeaway boxes , coffee cups and bags ) with our packaging stamps. Their versatility allows for customisation and enables businesses to establish a unique identity and leave a lasting impression on customers. Moreover, by opting for packaging stamps, we actively contribute to reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainable business practices. Embracing the convenience, versatility, and sustainability of packaging stamps paves the way for a greener, more efficient packaging approach in today's world.
